Big Red Weekend Recap:
It was a busy weekend for the Big Red with several teams in action including both our HS and MS wrestling teams who opened up their seasons. The action got started on Friday night as the boys basketball teams traveled to Monroeville to open up conference play against the Eagles. The JV team struggled offensively falling by a 29-14 final score while the Varsity fell behind early and battled from behind all night and also struggled to get things going consistently on the offensive end falling to the Eagles by a 50-38 final score. They fall to 1-2 overall on the season and 0-1 in conference play and will be back in action on Friday hosting South Central.
On Saturday, the MS boys basketball teams continued play by traveling to New London and came away with a split for the 3rd time this season, however this time it was the 7th grade who was victorious while the 8th grade suffered their first loss of the season. Both teams will be back in action on Thursday this week when they travel to Mapleton.
The MS wrestling team opened up their season on Saturday by competing in the Clear Fork JH Invite. They did not have any individual placers but they competed hard throughout the event. They will be off for a couple weeks before competing in the Monroeville Invite on the 21st.
The Varsity wrestling team traveled to Hillsdale for the annual Hillsdale season opening invite and came away with a 5th place team finish. Thomas Winegardner and Ben Trimmer led the way for the Big Red with 1st place finishes in their weight classes while Noah Robinson notched a 2nd place finish. Hunter McClure took 3rd, Lucas Distl 4th, Zach Miller 5th, and Isaiah Miller 6th to round out the placing for the Big Red. They will be back in action on Saturday this weekend in the Clear Fork Invite.
