Big Red Recap:
Several of our basketball teams got back into action on Thursday night. The MS boys basketball teams traveled to Western Reserve to conclude the regular season and both suffered tough losses the Roughriders. Both teams will be in conference tournament play tomorrow as the 7th grade will take on South Central at PHS while the 8th grade will travel to Monroeville to take on Western Reserve. Good luck to both teams in tournament play!
The freshman boys also returned to action last night hosting New London and dropped a tough game to the Wildcats. They will be right back in action tonight at home against Monroeville as a part of a tripleheader before JV and Varsity.
The JV and Varsity girls basketball teams were also back in action as they traveled to New London to take on the FC leading Wildcats. The JV team salvaged a tie in the 2 quarter with a score of 8-8. It was a rough night for the Varsity in a 50-8 loss to the Wildcats. They will return to action on Tuesday night next week hosting Crestview.

The spelling bee team competed virtually at the Richland County Spelling Bee. Representing Shiloh Middle School were Brennen Crosby, Evan Duncan, Macey King, and Ari Miller. We would like to congratulate Macey King on placing in the top 13. She will compete at the Tri-County Spelling Bee on February 19th.

After several days without athletic events due to the weather we finally have a recap to post. The Lady Big Red basketball team returned to action on Wednesday night taking on Lucas in a varsity only non-conference contest. After a back and forth 1st quarter that saw the Big Red trailing 14-12 the Lady Big Red could not sustain consistent offense the rest of the game as Lucas would slowly pull away for a 45-25 win over the Big Red. The loss drops the Lady Big Red to 2-15 overall and they will be right back in action tonight at New London.

Below is a rundown of cancelled and rescheduled events along with an updated schedule for the remainder of the week. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding as we have navigated all of the weather related changes.
JV/Varsity Boys Basketball at Western Reserve Cancelled on Monday 1/26 - Rescheduled for next Monday 2/2 at Western Reserve 6pm

The MS boys basketball games rescheduled for today have been cancelled again and moved to tomorrow. The varsity girls basketball game tonight at Lucas is ON as scheduled and will be varsity only starting at 6pm.
Practices will again be allowed between the times of 1 and 6pm.

Tuesday Athletic Update:
All games scheduled for today have been cancelled. Optional practices will be allowed this afternoon between 1pm and 6pm. The MS boys games at Western and JV/Varsity girls games at Lucas are tentatively scheduled for tomorrow while details are being worked out. The freshman boys game vs Mansfield Christian will not be rescheduled.

Today's cancelled JV and Varsity boys basketball games at Western Reserve have been rescheduled for next Monday February 2nd. JV will tip at 6pm.
The freshman game scheduled for Monday at St. Paul will be cancelled. We will try to reschedule it.
Big Red Weekend Recap:
It was a busy weekend of athletic events as many of our Big Red teams were in action before the snowstorm. The JV and Varsity boys basketball teams got the weekend started on Friday night as they traveled to Mapleton and got the weekend started with two wins over the Mounties. After a slow start to the game and trailing 16-14 after one quarter the Big Red going and slowly pulled away throughout the game en route to the 75-52 win over the Mounties. Both teams were then right back in action on Saturday night at Lucas in non-conference play and ran away to blowout wins over the Cubs. The varsity would use another big 2nd half to run away to the 58-31 win as the wins improve them to 12-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play. The game that was originally rescheduled for tonight at Western Reserve has again been cancelled due to weather. The Big Red will be back in action on Friday at home against Monroeville.
On Saturday, the MS girls basketball team took on Western Reserve in the 1st round of the conference tournament and lost a tough game to the Roughriders by a score of 39-26 as their season came to an end. We are proud of the MS Lady Big Red for their hard work and improvement shown this season!
The Varsity girls basketball team hosted Monroeville on Saturday afternoon in a varsity only contest and had a rough day in a 42-27 loss to the Eagles. They drop to 2-14 overall on the season and 1-9 in conference play. They are scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday at Lucas.
The Varsity wrestling team was in action at the Garaway Peg Leg Scuffle on Saturday and had another solid showing. Thomas Winegardner once again led the way with a 1st place finish in his weight class making it his 3rd championship showing in a row. Levi Foley and Isaiah Miller both added 4th place finishes while Ben Trimmer and Parker Miller both took 5th place on the day. They will be back in action next weekend at Akron Hoban.
The MS wrestling team competed hard at the Mapleton Smokerise Invite and will wrap their season on Friday this week at the conference meet at New London.
Also on Saturday, our Big Red cheerleaders competed in a state cheer competition in Columbus and earned a 7th place finish in their division! Congratulations to our cheerleaders on a great showing. They will compete in another competition back in Columbus again this Saturday.
