Big Red Recap from Tuesday:
The Big Red baseball team traveled to Galion on Tuesday night for a non-conference tournament tune-up game with the Tigers and lost by a 6-3 final score. The Big Red got four different pitchers time on the mound in the close and competitive game. Jarrett Burrer had the highlight of the game with a solo HR over the right field fence. The loss drops the Big Red to 14-9 overall as they head into tournament play and will host Crestline in the sectional finals on Friday.

Today’s JV Baseball game at home vs South Central has been cancelled due to field conditions and will not be rescheduled.
Today’s varsity softball game at South Central is ON and will be played. It will start around 6pm after SC completed a suspended game with New London.

Firelands Electric is excited to announce that we are once again sponsoring our Lunch with a Lineman Electrical Safety Contest!
This contest is open to all elementary students (K-5) attending a school in or around the cooperative’s service territory, which includes your school. Students DO NOT need to be members of Firelands Electric Cooperative to enter.
To enter, students simply need to submit the completed safety activity found on our website at www.firelandsec.com/contests by June 5. Three students will be randomly drawn from among the entries to participate in an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Firelands Electric’s facility in New London and get an up-close look at the co-op’s utility equipment. Winners will also be treated to a pizza lunch with some of our linemen! The tour and lunch are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 22.

The 8th graders have been having some fun after state testing. They have been tasked with building a marble run, it had to include one loop, one hill, a curve and a funnel. They then were tasked to build a paper airplane with a launcher. The farthest plane went 86 feet!!

Big Red Weekend Recap:
It was a busy Friday evening for the Big Red as all of our spring teams were in action. The Lady Big Red softball team traveled to Lucas and opened up postseason play against the Cubs. It was a back and forth game as the Cubs jumped out to the early lead and led 3-0 after 3 innings before the Lady Big Red rallied for 4 runs in the top of the 4th to take a 4-3 lead. The Cubs then tied the game at 4 before the Lady Big Red regained the lead by a score of 5-4 in the top of the 6th before the wheels fell off in the bottom of the 6th as the Cubs scored 4 runs en route to the 8-6 tournament win over the Lady Big Red. The Lady Big Red see their postseason come to an end with a 2-21 overall record. They have one more league game to make-up this week with South Central to end the season.
The varsity baseball team was also in action as they traveled to Mansfield Christian for a non-conference matchup with the Flames. The Big Red continued to roll as they cruised to a 12-2 win in 5 innings. It was an all around offensive onslaught by the Big Red early as they plated 4 runs in the 1st inning and 3 in the 2nd including Lincoln Distl's first career HR. Lex Grose and Lucas Distl combined a solid pitching effort for the Big Red as they won their 7th game in a row and ran their overall record to 14-8. They will be back in action on Tuesday for a postseason tune-up game at Galion before starting tournament play on Friday at home against Crestline.
The Track and Field teams were back at New London for day 2 and the finals of the firelands conference meet. The boys team had a solid team showing with a 5th place finish while the girls took 8th. The 6th grade Academic Challenge teams recently competed in a tournament that included 31 teams. Team B tied for 15th place, and Team A tied for 26th place. Both teams worked hard and represented our school well throughout the competition. Congratulations to the following students for their participation and effort:
