Big Red Recap:
The JV and Varsity boys basketball teams hosted Seneca East on Tuesday night in their home openers for the 2025-26 season. They played two down to the wire games with the Tigers and came away with a split as the JV team won a one point thriller while the varsity dropped a heartbreaker by a 39-38 final score. In the varsity game both teams used strong zone defenses to slow the other teams offense making it a low scoring defensive battle. Seneca East jumped out to an early lead and would hold the lead throughout the first half taking a 27-20 lead into the half. The Big Red got their offense going some in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Tigers 16-8 in the frame to take a one point 36-35 lead into the 4th quarter. There was very little offense in the 4th quarter as the Big Red held the ball for much of the quarter before Seneca East scored the final four points of the game in the last minute and a half to take the 39-38 lead that would end up being the final score. The Big Red drop to 1-1 on the season and will be back in action next Tuesday at Monroeville.
