Plymouth FFA Prepares for and invites you to the 2024 Richland County Fair
As the summer slowly starts to come to a near end, the fair is just days away, kicking off on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Plymouth FFA members put in countless hours working with their fair projects and keeping up with record keeping. They are hopeful all their hard work will pay off during the week. Before show day, members must complete their online records, a home visit, barn meetings, animal weigh in, animal grooming and training, and many other small tasks.
Through fair projects, members learn about the joys and discomforts of agricultural life, they learn about life and death, how to troubleshoot health issues and potential diseases, budgeting for both profit and loss but they also learn to be respectful and responsible and just how precious life is. From sanitizing and setting up pens with adequate space and ventilation for their animals to the daily care of feeding, watering and preparing their animals for the show arena. Members are guided by their mentors, parents, and advisors as they are tasked with researching their animals and learning about their growth requirements, nutritional needs, growth rates, and other needs such as deworming, hoof trimming, and grooming in preparation for show.
Plymouth FFA members exhibiting livestock projects are Nicole Beverage, Kensley Burrer, Taylor Dean, Lincoln Distl, Lucas Distl, Rylee Gowitzka, Brianna Flanagan, Morgan Follett, Colton Hass, Sarah Hoak, Sienna Kennison, Alyson Lewis, Carson Lewis, Kaylee Martin, Presley Martin, Braden Montgomery, Madison Montgomery, Kendall Oakley, Blake Oney, Ava Stine, Mya Stine, Kelsey Surgener, Katelyn Swingle, Kristen Swingle, and Camryn Wallace. Exhibiting a dog project is Kyrsten Caudill.
We hope your schedule will allow you to come to the fair and see our members' projects. The sale is also so important as members earn money which is invested in our local and state economies as they purchase their first vehicles or save for advanced education, but the show arena is just as important. In the show arena they learn and practice soft skills and learn communication and professionalism. We would love your support in the new show arena, sale arena, or in any combination thereof.
The show and sale schedule for our Plymouth FFA students at the Richland County Fair includes the following:
Sunday, August 4, 2024

The Big Red football team is running their 2nd annual lift-a-thon on Wednesday July 24th at 5:00pm.
Last year we raised over $2,600.
If you would like to support please seek out a team member or coach.
If you have any questions or need more my information on how you can support please reach out to me(jgillum@plymouthk12.org) or any team member.
PURPOSE: To raise money for player camp gear(shirt and shorts), practice and game equipment, and other team activities.
WHAT: Players will participate in three lifts(bench, squat, and deadlift). They will take the sum of the weight from the three lifts and multiply that by the pledge amount. (i.e. if an athlete lifts a total of 650 lbs with a pledge of $0.01/lb, the donation would be $6.50).
GOAL: Each player has a goal of raising $50(or more) and we hope to raise at least $1,250 as a team.
